NYSC NERD Portal Registration – NERD Enrolment

NYSC NERD Portal Registration – NERD Enrolment – NERD Clearance” is the process by which your Academic Outputs (credentials such as certificates, transcripts, results, etc.) and item submissions (Project Reports, theses, dissertations, etc.) are validated for authenticity by your institution and then permanently logged in the national NERD/NCVS database.

Once validated, records become unalterable, instantly verifiable, and nationally referenceable with unique national verifiers (e.g., the National Credential Number (NCN) and ancillary security codes) for uses such as NYSC mobilisation, Employee NCVS Clearance, and embassy/foreign mission checks.

What to know: Academic Outputs

Among others, Section 2.3 of the NERD regulations defines Academic Outputs as:

  1. An academic manuscript/report generated in the course of an accredited programme (undergraduate or postgraduate).
  2. Academic results, diplomas, certificates, degrees, or other credentials from accredited post-secondary/tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Examples include:

  • Theses, dissertations, project reports, teaching practice reports, term/seminar papers, SIWES/IT reports, internship reports, journal articles, case studies.
  • Credentials and results, plus digital/electronic copies of transcripts.

2.0 Responsibilities

2.1 Responsibilities of Institutions

Institutions must appoint officials to three key roles:

  • NFO NERD Focal Officer — derives authority from the Chief Executive (VC/Rector/Provost/Commandant, etc.).
  • NRO NERD Record Officer — derives authority from the Registrar or Chief Record Officer.
  • NDO NERD Digitisation Officer — technically capable; preferably the Chief ICT Officer.

NERD advises including the Principal or Chief Librarian in the team.

2.1.1 Institutions’ Responsibilities on Academic Credentials

  1. Electronic Upload: Institutions upload senate/board-approved academic records (certificates, transcripts, results). These become part of the national database. Officials log in via ned.gov.ng/login. For setup guidance, contact onboarding@ned.gov.ng or +234 803 316 4294.
  2. Authenticity: For credentials, NCVS accepts what the institution submits as genuine, validated by the institution’s record officer acting under the Registrar’s mandate.
  3. Security & NCN: Once verified, each credential is assigned an NCN. Security codes (QR/FrameQR) may be affixed to enable instant future verification; institutions may embed these at production time under the NERD Policy.

2.1.2 Institutions’ Responsibilities on Project Reports

  1. The NERD Programme strengthens integrity, verification, and standards under the Education (National Minimum Standards) Act.
  2. Within the digitisation dashboard, HODs/Supervisors confirm authenticity of student submissions. Institutions should contact NERD for other embedded services.

2.2 Responsibilities of Students (Project Report/Thesis)

  1. Log in at ned.gov.ng/login and upload your academic reports.
  2. Process your NERD Clearance via the dashboard.
  3. Given the proximity to 2025 Batch C NYSC mobilisation, NERD is temporarily relaxing the academic credential component to allow institutions time to adopt the framework; the NCVS component may not yet be enforced for prospective corps members.
