The Federal Government is employing 1,000 people in each of the 774 local governments in Nigeria

About SPW

Sometime in October, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, approved a Pilot Special Public Works Programme in the Rural Areas. The programme was domiciled in the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) for implementation.

The Special Public Works in the Rural Areas is an employment- intensive technique acquired and adapted by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) from one of the capacity-building collaborations with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in the late 1980’s to the middle of the 1990’s. The Project was tagged ILO/NDE Labour Based/ Light Equipment Methods of Construction, Rehabilitation and maintenance of Public Infrastructure.\

There are 7 sections of the SPW programme where candidates can apply:

1. Graduate Attachment Programme (GAP)
2. Graduate Coaching Scheme (GCS)
3. Graduate Special Training Programme (GSTP)
4. Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS)
5. Solar Energy Training Scheme (SETS)
6. Community Development Scheme (CDS)
7. Labour Based Technology Training Scheme (LBTS)

Salary of Twenty Thousand Naira will be paid monthly by the Federal Government. Payment will be made to beneficiaries at the end of every month.

SPW Recruitment Requirements 2023

Nationality: Nigerian

Minimum Age: 20

Mode of identification: National ID, International Passport, Driver’s License or Voters Card

1. Minimum of 5 Credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB/NECO including Mathematics and English
2. B.Sc or Masters’s Degree obtained from an accredited Tertiary Institution in any related discipline or an HND in a relevant course in any field of study.
3. Applicant must have good communication and writing skills
